Low loss, flexible RF cable for use with wireless microphone antennas.
Our RF cables are made from Belden RG8-X cable which offers superior signal propagation while still maintaining flexibility in the cable. This makes this cable ideal for use in live, touring applications where easy handling is important.
Why use RG8-X? After all it's more expensive. Well, the standard cable spec for RF work is RG58C/U. While this type of cable is relatively inexpensive, it has an insertion loss of 20dB per 100ft at 900MHz. Compare this to RG8X where the loss is only 7dB per 100m - less than half the loss of the cheaper alternative.
To minimise any RF dropouts with radio microphone systems, it is important to maintain the strength of the original signal. Using a lower loss cable is an essential element in achieving this. Also, when using diversity receivers with two antennas, always use the same length of feeder cable throughout to prevent any bias created by additional loss on a longer cable.
