Neutrik Ethercon shell assembly for use with CAT5/CAT5e cable and standard RJ45 plugs. Black shell
So much equipment these days makes use of low cost Ethernet cabling - e.g digital audio, video, DMX and control signaling. While the standard RJ45 connector is perfectly fine for some applications, uses where it may be getting connected/disconnected on a regular basis can lead to damage both to the cable and to the plug. Neutrik produced the Ethercon Shell to address this problem.
With the NE8MC-B, the shell simply inserts over an existing, pre-terminated RJ45 plug and makes the plug more robust while at the same time providing strain relief for the cable. The matching panel socket uses a unified 'D' series receptacle for a solid, trouble-free connection.
In this variant, the strain relief is designed to wrap around the cable and is held in place by the chuck - enabling this version to be attached to existing cable assemblies.
The kit comprises a black chromium shell, fixing disk, chuck, bushing and boot. It comes packed with two cable protection elements for cable diameter either up to 5 mm or 8 mm. It is NOT supplied with an RJ45 connector but is intended to be retrofitted over an existing pre-terminated CAT5 connection.
Note : This is a CAT5 connector and will not mate with CAT6 Ethercon connections.
