Neutrik Ethercon shell assembly for use with CAT5/CAT5e cable and standard RJ45 plugs. Black shell.
NOTE : The RJ45 connector is NOT supplied as part of this kit.
So much equipment these days makes use of low cost Ethernet cabling - e.g digital audio, video, DMX and control signaling. While the standard RJ45 connector is perfectly fine for some applications, uses where it may be getting connected/disconnected on a regular basis can lead to damage both to the cable and to the plug. Neutrik designed the Ethercon system to address this problem.
The NE8MX-B-1 is designed for use with non-terminated CAT5/5e cable assemblies.
The design is based on the standard Neutrik XLR shell. The boot is put on the cable and then the RJ45 connector (not included) is attached and crimped to the cable. Finally, the shell simply inserts over the terminated RJ45 plug, the strain relief is slipped over the cable and the boot tightened up. The end result is an extremely robust data connection which will last many cycles of connection/disconnection.
The matching panel socket uses a unified 'D' series receptacle for a solid, trouble-free connection.
Designed for use with cable diameters of 3.5mm to 8mm.
Note : This is a CAT5 connector and will not mate with CAT6 Ethercon connections.
